Program Overview
The 3-Day Operator Course is an intensive, hands-on training program designed to prepare Generator Operators and Field Service Technicians to safely operate, monitor, and support standby and prime power systems in real-world environments. This course bridges the gap between theory and field performance by focusing on practical skills, operational confidence, and professional readiness.
Over three focused days, students learn how generator systems actually function in the field — from engine fundamentals and control panel operation to load management, system monitoring, and safe shutdown procedures. Instruction emphasizes situational awareness, troubleshooting mindset, proper documentation, and communication standards expected on professional job sites.
This is not a lecture-only course. Students engage directly with equipment, controls, and real-world operating scenarios. They leave with a working understanding of system components, common failure points, load acceptance considerations, and the operational habits that prevent costly mistakes.
Graduates of the 3-Day Operator Course are prepared to:
Operate generator systems safely and confidently
Monitor performance and recognize abnormal conditions
Execute proper startup, load transfer, and shutdown procedures
Communicate clearly in field environments
Represent themselves and their employer professionally
This course sets the operational foundation for entry-level and developing technicians while reinforcing the safety, discipline, and field conduct required in the power generation industry.
